The Lansing Board of Water and Light contracted this interactive hands-on groundwater exhibiti for the Center. The model is a general representation of the aquifers under Lansing. Included in the simulator are pumping wells, and improperly abandoned well that leaks contaminant to the semi-confined aquifers, dye injection, and surface features such as downtown Lansing buildings, a rain garden, stormwater and rural scene. The dye is injected by the user pushing an activation button. Wells are selected by turning a knob on the user interface. Wells are pumped by rotating a hand-wheel on the right or left. The display case for the simulator was designed and manufactured by Impression 5 to integrate the unit with other exhibits at the Center.
	Envision has the capability of producing groundwater models that represent your local geology or groundwater flow characteristics. Interactive museum-type models typically cost $10,000-$50,000 or more, depending on complexity. We will design a product to meet your budget. To manufacturer custom models, the buyer will need to provide information to Envision, including a cross-sectional diagram of the local geology and hydrogeologic flow patterns. Our designer will work with the buyer to produce a model that realistically represents the requested geographic location or geologic setting. Also, be sure to include reference to the geographic area or geologic setting that the custom model will represent.
